Andre Bradford, a.k.a. S.C. Says, is an Austin based spoken word artist who has been performing slam poetry since 2014. He's toured and performed his slam poetry keynote on Purposeful Empathy at venues, universities, and conferences across the country, and his work has been featured in the Huffington Post, Write About Now, The Edge radio, The Culture Trip, and Blavity. He is a two time Austin Poetry Slam Champion, the 2022 Texas Grand Slam Champion, and is the author of the poetry collection Golden Brown Skin. He also once popped a bag of popcorn without burning a single kernel, which is arguably one of his greatest achievements. His performance is interactive, engaging, funny, and truly moving. Weaving unique artistry, research backed talking points, and personal story, S.C. Says helps create transformative events and gives audiences a path for rich dialogue and true community engagement.

This 45 minute presentation uses slam poetry to explore empathy as it relates to diversity appreciation, mental health awareness, and the power of small acts of kindness. S.C. weaves laughter, honesty, humility, and heartfelt hope to reveal how healing and life changing Purposeful Empathy can be.

In this 50 minute presentation award winning slam poet, author, and speaker S.C. Says utilizes spoken word poetry to engage and encourage audiences to reframe life’s challenges as chances to level-up their own Resiliency Gauge. By unpacking poems around resilience within family , self-love, mental health, and social justice, S.C. helps audiences to see how the hits we take in life give us the opportunity to develop an internal strength we can pull from again and again.
