Long Review: For context, I've been following two-step for 7yrs and started going to Vanessa's beginner class to learn to lead. I was so impressed with how she's structured her whole dance course. In the beginner class she gives you context and background on what makes honky-tonk/Austin two-step different and so special. The beginner class is also structured in a way that helps a new dancer understand some of the key principles of what makes a good dance(in any style). The lesson includes just enough to make a fun dance but not an overwhelming amount. It's also the same lesson every time so you can keep repeating it till you feel like you've really integrated all the skills and are ready to move on to the intermediate. Vanessa is such a fantastic teacher, and her love for dancing is obvious in her lessons from start to finish. She explains things with just the right amount of detail and has a way of simplifying really complicated moves into something anyone can do. I've brought my partner who wanted to learn to dance to three of her lessons, and I'm floored by the progress I've seen in so little time. Really grateful to her for being able translate something I love doing in ways I hadn't been able to myself.

Vanessa is so skilled and down to earth. She has come up with a very learnable sequence to teach newbies and is very good at adding on in a super manageable way. We've already been out dancing at local halls and are feeling pretty confident even though we've only had two lessons. We can't wait to try out the intermediate group lesson tomorrow!!

I've learned many styles of dancing over the years and know that it can be hard to find an instructor that not only has talent, but the ability to teach and connect with her students. After looking for a two-step instructor for quite a while, Vanessa was highly recommended to me and she is the real deal. The honky tonk style she teaches is fun and so are lessons. Her teaching style is low key and collaborative and she figures out ways to explain and demonstrate moves that makes them easy to understand and follow. I never leave without feeling great and like it's a great investment of time and money to learn with her.

Can't say enough good things about Vanessa. Not all great dancers are great teachers but she is both of those things, combining them with grace, intelligence and a great sense of humor. The two step style she teaches is accessible and informal. Having fun is the whole point of dancing and she makes it fun! After only a few lessons this Jersey girl feels confident to take to the dance floor. Thank you, Vanessa!

Vanessa's lessons are the best antidepressant I've ever tried! Her teaching style is accessible and encouraging. It's been really special to get to know the people she brings out - all kind and looking to learn something new. She offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced social lessons throughout the week at venues around town. Tip her! I can also highly recommend her private lessons. Double or Nothing Two-Step is wonderful! I hosted a Two-Step birthday party with them and it was a blast. Vanessa was responsive and helpful with coordination in advance of the party. The event was a ton of fun! We had people at all levels attend. Vanessa adjusts to different levels to teach the advanced folks new moves and help the new folks try to stay on rhythm. I felt the instruction was the right mix of choreography-breakdown and songs to practice/just have fun. I highly recommend Double or Nothing Two-Step!
