Jazz artist of the year “City Paper Music Awards” (2013 / 2014 / 2024) Jazz artist of the year “Independent Tone Awards” (2015 / 2016 / 2018) Gino Castillo Ecuadorian singer, percussionist, songwriter and producer, based in Charleston South Carolina. His successful career has developed on the last 24 years between Latin jazz, salsa and world music with the Afro-Cuban influence. An artist with several musical solo projects, singing boleros and salsa music; he is also the band leader, producer and singer with his bands “The Cuban Cowboys and “Buena Vista Legacy Band” As a side man he has being part of several tours and recordings with world recognized artists like: Earl Klugh, Al Turner, Jessy J, Michael Mossman, Quentin Baxter, Charlton Singleton,Etienne Charles, Nestor Torres, Horacio “el Negro” Hernandez, Charleston Jazz Orchestra, CSO, Paulo Moura, Pascoal Meirelles, Cruks En Karnak, Juan Fernando Velasco, and more. His discography have several albums that represents all the styles that he do the best. At the moment he is scheduling the world release of all his albums on the 2025, among them are several latin jazz albums with the Cuban Cowboys, plus his solo salsa album “Corazón Kamikaze” where hi invite to the studio some of the most important Cuban musicians in the Cuban salsa world, bringing his best vocal qualities to this project. At the same time hi is working on his next production named “Volviendo a Nacer” making salsa versions of some of the most iconic songs from the Ecuadorian pop scene in collaboration with the original pop singers. To keep sharing his productions he is bringing to us his project “SoulFunKubanized” where he recorded in 2011 some of the most popular songs on the Soul and Funk repertoire adapted to the cuban rhythms with some amazing American singers. And last but not least, with “Buena Vista Legacy Band” is working on one album where we would have a fusion between the traditional Cuban
