Alt pop, rock, and folk songwriter, echoing HAIM and boygenius, Maggie Rogers
Julia Gargano (band name Ferry Townes) is a NYC based artist known for her unique musical exploration of feminine identity and growing pains, sprinkled with anxious flashes and flirty obsessions. Reminiscent of bands like HAIM and boygenius, she blends distinct melodic narratives with an alternative folk-pop flair. Ferry Townes is a vivid storyteller and captures the beauty and chaos of self-discovery in a way that resonates deeply with each listener.
Over the past 10 years, Julia mastered her stage presence while performing jazz standards in some of NYC’s most iconic clubs, which to this day shapes her elegant and timeless live performances. She often revisits her jazz roots when the right opportunity arises.
Some history: Julia was in the top 6 of American Idol in 2020 and received a record deal shortly after. In 2023 she signed to Licorice Pizza and rebranded as Ferry Townes. She recently released a project with actor Liz Gillies which was featured on The Today Show in 2024.
