I am a well known trumpeter, composer, master musician & bandleader based in Chicago and was a regular on the HBO series Tremé. I developed my chops in my hometown of Chicago at Fred Anderson’s legendary Velvet Lounge. I have been compared to the genius of Miles Davis and the leadership and insight of Art Blakey. I established The Abney EffectTM in 2010 while living in New Orleans. My 12 years in New Orleans gave me the ability to fuse the music and entertainment aspects of New Orleans, Chicago Jazz, Blues, and R & B into my original compositions and performances. This created a unique lane that sets our performances apart from other Jazz ensembles. I have shared the stage with George Benson, George Porter Jr., Erykah Badu, Solange, Aaron Neville, and many more.
